1.Creative Wellbeing: Arts and Social Care Conference

As part of a major praXis commissioning partnership, Wolverhampton Arts & Heritage are holding a conference focusing on arts and social care. The conference will be an opportunity for people who work in the arts, heritage, health and social care professions to find out about this collaborative and innovative project and how working across three sectors can deliver on the preventative health and wellbeing agenda for citizens.

A day of workshops and practical sessions aimed at giving delegates the chance to gain new inspiration for how they develop exhibitions. 3.Sharing Conservation Decisions
23rd and 24th June 2011, Free, National Library of Wales /School ofArt, Aberystwyth
This conference will explore how conservation decisions are made about our cultural heritage, from delicate ceramics to buildings. It is designed to be relevant to curators, conservators and anyone who works with collections and the historic environment. The aim is to question the decision making process, examine the underlying principles and methodologies and clarify the role of the professional conservator within it.

4.RAPT Workshop (Risk Assessment Tool)
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

Forward planning will be at the core of the new Accreditation Standard and risk mitigation is a fundamental objective of the forward plan. RAPT – the Risk Awareness Profiling Tool – is a new, free, online resource to enable all organisations to comprehensively assess their awareness of the risks facing their entire heritage asset (http://www.raptonline.org.uk).

5 Geological Curators’ Group Seminar
17 May 2011 YorkshireMuseum, Museum Gardens, York .
It is a one day seminar aimed primarily at non-specialist curators/educators/interpreters who find themselves responsible for, or have access to a museum geology collection, but also valuable to geological curators. This session will provide practical advice and ideas about how geology collections can be used in the museum, from teaching and research, collections management and conservation, to informal learning and public programmes.

Volunteers from Chedhams’ Yard steering group today had a special guided tour from English Heritage of the newly refurbished Evans Silver Factory in the Jewellery quarter, Birmingham.
As well as being bowled over by the atmosphere – and privileged access – the group spent the day gleaning expert advice and tips on how EH had conserved this ‘time capsule’ of a place. Maybe we should do an inventory of time capsule projects in the West Midlands
